Simplur was founded in late 2012 with the mission to help citizens gather to create better government and non-profit organizations through social networking and crowdfunding. You can read about the founding ideas of Simplur here.
We are based in Denver, Colorado and have a database of 1.4 million causes that are approved by the IRS and the FEC (Federal Election Commission). Our guiding principle for action is perfectly described by the name Simplur, which stands for Simple Pluralism. We built what we believe to be the easiest and most powerful way to change the world for the better. Simplur is a marketplace of idea and values that concentrates, amplifies, and scales small communications and donations into world-changing actions through aggregating technology.
We are supported by a small team and numerous partners around the country and the world. We are always looking for help and feedback, and we appreciate every effort you can take to spread the word.
Craig D. Wilcox – Founder and CEO
Craig has been interested in politics, the public sphere, and technology for longer than he can remember. His career has included forming various technology companies and non-profits as a social entrepreneur. He has also done work as an online marketing executive and consultant for both small agencies and large Fortune 500 corporations. As a young guy, he won state and national chess championships. He has two young daughters and lives in Denver, Colorado, where he enjoys the sun and the outdoors as often as he can get away from his laptop. Craig graduated from Whitman College with a BA in Politics and a minor in Economics.
Outside Counsel – Trevor Potter, former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission
As outside counsel, Trevor Potter and his team at Caplin & Drysdale have helped form the strategy to keep Simplur’s technology in alignment with the rules set forth by the Federal Election Commission. Trevor is also the Founding President and General Counsel for the Campaign Legal Center and has served as Stephen Colbert’s SuperPAC attorney.
Arck Interactive is the premier engineering firm for the Elgg open source platform on which Simplur is built. They have helped shape the technology and are responsible for keeping the site up and running. So if you can’t use the site right now, you can bet we’re on the phone with them. But you can see the site, so all’s well it turns out.
